🏍️ Motorbike Theft Prevention Advice |

|
Motorbike theft remains an issue across the county, with thieves often targeting bikes that are insecure or left in vulnerable locations. Taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim. ✅ Lock it up - Use a quality chain and padlock through the frame or wheel and secure it to an immovable object where possible. ✅ Use more than one lock - Thieves are less likely to target a bike protected by multiple security devices such as a disc lock, chain and alarm. ✅ Park smart - Choose well-lit, busy areas covered by CCTV where available. Avoid leaving your bike in isolated locations for long periods. ✅ Cover your bike - A plain cover makes your motorcycle less visible and can deter opportunist thieves. ✅ Fit security devices - Consider alarms, immobilisers and GPS trackers. Approved security products can make theft more difficult and improve recovery chances. ✅ Secure it at home - Store motorcycles in a locked garage or shed where possible. Consider ground anchors and additional security for outbuildings. ✅ Record key details - Keep a note of the registration, VIN/chassis number and take photographs of your motorcycle. This can assist police if it is stolen. 👀 Be vigilant - Report suspicious activity involving motorcycles, such as people trying door handles, inspecting parked bikes or vehicles repeatedly visiting an area. 📞 If you witness suspicious behaviour or have information about motorcycle theft, report it online or call 101. In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 999. | ||
